A UNITA afirma-se, nos dias de hoje, como uma das poucas formaçoes políticas africanas, que chega fortalecida, 58 anos após a sua fundação. Tal afirmação derivou, sobretudo, da sua participação na luta pela independência nacional. A sua luta não ficou por aí. Depois da independência, lutou contra o sistema de partido único e pela democracia multipartidária. Hoje luta pela justiça social, alternância política, boa gestão e pela autarquização do país.
